Dog Kennel Volunteer Duties

 

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER

FOR YOUR SAFETY, WE ASK THAT YOU WEAR SHOES THAT ENCLOSE YOUR FEET, SUCH AS SNEAKERS OR WORK SHOES.

The Kennel Coordinator or Kennel Technician will give you direction on which of the duties need to be done and show you how to perform these duties. Any supplies or tools that you need will be supplied.

The duties could include the following:

Clean and refill water bowls:

Dispose of old water, clean if necessary, rinse and refill with fresh water, placing it back into the same kennel or pen from where it was removed. Top off dog food, if required.

Laundry:  when required wash and dry bedding or work towels in washer/dryer in main dog kennel.

Clean floors:

Disinfect floors, walls and under dog beds using the hose to rinse everything down the drain. If there is any debris in the drain, please remove debris and dispose in the trash.

Fill holes dug by the dogs in outside pens.

Brush dogs.

Scoop all outside pens; wash outside concrete runs, if required.

Pick up trash around dog kennels.
