This is who we are.

Gideon Rising

It was a morning like any other morning at Free to Live. That is until a woman pulled in with Gideon.

His condition was grave. He was emaciated, and had lost a limb previously. His eyes were matted shut and he was covered in mange. He could barely lift his head, but his gratitude was there with each encouraging word and pet.

We didn’t know then that he had both heartworms and an eye condition that caused his eyelashes to grow inward. It took us a year to ensure he was strong enough to endure the eye surgery he needed to live a normal life.

A year to the date he was brought to us, Gideon had his first eye surgery. At two years, he had his second. Now he could see clearly the loving world that was waiting for him.

When Holly came to visit, she had no idea she would soon be making arrangements for a new family member.

It was love at first sight and now Gideon has a second chance at the life he has always deserved.

Gideon joins Lily, a blind Border Collie, and Coal, a Brittany Spaniel mix, along with his new mom and dad.

They said he has discovered the couch and mastered the dog door for lazy afternoons in the sun.

We can’t wait to hear about all his Colorado adventures!
