Foster Me

We remain committed to responding to our community. With changes to intake procedures for municipal shelters and the increase in need, we are expanding beyond our traditional housing on property. We are looking for fosters to join us in helping some of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable residents!

Fostering a dog or a cat provides a temporary home for pets that are too young, sick, stressed or vulnerable to stay in a shelter environment.

Some of the main reasons fostering helps:

  • Saves lives: We have limited space. When an animal goes into foster care, that frees up room for another animal in need.
  • Reduces stress: Many animals are anxious in a louder environment. A home can help them feel safer and more comfortable.
  • Supports medical recovery: Injured, sick, or post-surgery animals often heal better in a quiet home.
  • Helps young animals: Kittens and puppies have more vulnerable immune systems, and fostering can help them avoid exposure in a communal sheltering environment.
  • Improves adoptability: Foster caregivers learn about an animal’s personality, habits, and needs, which helps match them with the right adopter.
  • Provides socialization: Animals can learn household routines, interact with people and learn how to live in a home. Your support gets them closer to their adoptive family!

For foster caregivers, benefits can include:

  • Making a direct impact on animal welfare.
  • Enjoying the companionship of a pet without a long-term commitment.
  • Learning about pet care and behavior.
  • Helping an animal transition successfully into a permanent home.

We provide food, supplies, and veterinary care for foster animals, so fostering is often less expensive than pet ownership.
